PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image from being omitted or read unnecessarily which is caused by differences between the values obtained as the result detecting the right and left ends of a book original-document and their actual positions. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with an original-document table 1 on which a book original-document (a) is placed in such a way that two facing pages of it are spread, an original-document reading part 2 for reading the book original-document (a) placed on the original-document table 1, a page turning part 3 which turns the pages of the book original-document (a) by electrostatically attracting the pages, a carriage (carrying part) 4 for reciprocating the original-document reading part 2 and the page turning part 3 in the direction of subscanning (to right and left in the illustration), and a position detecting part 5 which detects the positions of the right and left ends of the book original-document (a). In the case the device decides that the right and left ends of the book original-document (a), detected by the part 5, have been displaced, corrections are made by the input of numeric values through a numeric value input device, such as a ten-key pad, on the operation part of the device. |
