PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the driving part of a rotary polygon mirror small-sized and lower the component cost. SOLUTION: A fixed shaft 2 and a rotary sleeve 3 are formed of expensive ceramic and constitute an air bearing. A flange member 4 which is united with the rotary sleeve 3 supports the rotary mirror 1 on its flange part 4c and the rotary polygon mirror 1 is pressed against the flange part 4c of the flange member 4 with a press spring 6 built in the shaft part 4b of the flange member 4 and coupled integrally with the flange part. The rotary sleeve 3 and fixed shaft 2 can be much shorter in length than those when the press spring 6 is built in a rotary sleeve 3.
