PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and inexpensive developing device which does not require a complicated toner concentration control mechanism and a developer stirring and carrying mechanism and which can prevent developer from falling from the end of a developer carrier by regulating the movement of the developer in a direction nearly orthogonal to a developer carrying direction on the developer carrier. SOLUTION: Side plates 7a are provided on both end sides in the longitudinal direction of a developer storing case 7 so as to be opposed to ranges C on the outside from an effective developing range B where a developed image can be formed in the longitudinal direction of a developing sleeve 4. Then, a distance d1 between the surface of the sleeve 4 and the opposed surface of the side plate 7a opposed to the surface of the sleeve 4 is set to be a distance required to regulate the movement of the developer 3 in the direction nearly orthogonal to the developer 3 carrying direction on the sleeve 4. |
