PURPOSE:To provide an apparatus capable of easily preparing a sandwich-shaped rice ball in high quality despite that the apparatus has only one supplying position for a half-quantity cooked rice, which is about a half quantity of the cooked rice to be used for one rice ball. CONSTITUTION:A rice ball forming apparatus is provided with intermittently rotating plural female molds 2 on a fixed table board 1. In this rice ball forming apparatus, a half-quantity cooked rice 3 is supplied into every female mold 2 at the stopping position of the female mold 2. The upper side of the half-quantity cooked rice 3 is molded in every other female mold 2 by pressing and an ingredient 4 is supplied onto the molded cooked rice. The half- quantity cooked rice 3 provided with the ingredient is moved and stopped, together with the female mold 2, above a rising hole 5 which is opened in the fixed table board 1 and through which a male die 8 rises. The half-quantity cooked rice 3 with the ingredient is once lowered into the rising hole 5 and, in this state, the half-quantity cooked rice 3 of the following female mold 2 is brought and stopped above the half-quantity cooked rice 3 with the ingredient in the male-die hole 5 and a rice ball containing the ingredient 7 is formed. The lower side of the formed rice ball 7 containing the ingredient is pushed up into the female mold 2 by a male die 8. In this state, the female mold 2 is further rotated up to a cutout part 9 of the fixed table board 1 and stopped there. The objective rice ball 7 containing the ingredient is taken out downward. |
