PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily make the direction, connecting two strained parts of the polarization maintaining optical fiber, uniform to a specific direction. SOLUTION: A cylindrical ferrule 6 which has a flat part 6a at part of the outer periphery of the cylinder is mounted and fixed on the end part of the polarization maintaining optical fiber 5 so that the direction connecting the two strained parts 5a and 5c of the polarization maintaining optical fiber 5 and the flat part 6a of the ferrule 6 are in fixed position relation. Then the ferrule 6 is rotated or rolled on a flat member and then the flat part 6a of the ferrule 6 and the flat part of the flat member are matched with each other to make the direction, connecting the two strained parts 5c and 5c of each polarization maintaining optical fibers 5, uniform to the constant direction. |
