PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently communicate a speech and an image through a wide-area network within the range of the limited communication speed of network access devices by efficiently compressing speech information in consideration of features of the speech information and combining coded data streams. SOLUTION: A multipoint speech conferencing system 100 consists of plural user stations 104-106 and a speech server 110. This system compresses relative information such as signals of a speech and an image synchronized with lips in relation with the speech. The speech server 110 receives data stream from plural attendants. The sum of their bit rates is possibly higher than the bit rate that the modem of a 3rd attendant, so the speech server 110 combines those data streams with a single data stream having the bit rate that the modem of the 3rd attendant can handle. |
