PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming an automotive member with a superior specular effect, a presentable appearance, an outstanding strength and a high heat resistance using a fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin. SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing an automotive member of a thermoplastic resin, molding dies 10, 20 with a cavity 40 for molding the automotive member, a glass or ceramic nest 30 with a thickness of 0.5-10mm arranged in the molding dies 10, 20 and a pressing plate 32 which is arranged in the molding dies 10, 20 and presses the end part of the nest 30. In addition, a fiber- reinforced thermoplastic resin is packed into the cavity 40 of a molding die assembly with a clearance (C) of 0.001-0.03mm between the nest 30 and the pressing plate 32 and the pressing margin (ΔS) of the pressing plate 32 over the nest 30 being 0.1mm or more. |
