EPOXY RESIN PREPREG AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an epoxy resin prepreg having excellent heat-resistance and moldability to form a void-free molded article and provide a process for producing the prepreg. SOLUTION: This epoxy resin prepreg is composed of a fibrous substrate and a B-stage matrix resin composed of a novolak epoxy resin and a Lewis acid-Lewis base complex. It can be produced by dissolving 100 pts.wt. of a novolak epoxy resin and 2-5 pts.wt. of a Lewis acid-Lewis base complex in a solvent, converting the obtained matrix resin into B-stage by heating and mixing at 75-85 deg.C for 4-6hr in nitrogen atmosphere, impregnating the B-stage resin into a fibrous substrate and removing the solvent by drying.
