摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an output image with high quality by suppressing a reduction in a compression efficiency arranged with addition of an identifier so as to avoid a circuit scale from being increased and cost from being increased and attaining image area separation with high accuracy and applying image processing to each image area properly. SOLUTION: An input image in which areas with different attributes such as character/line drawing, and photograph/natural image are in existence in mixture is subjected to adaptive discrete cosine transformation ADCT coding and the result is stored and outputted after decoding in an image processing unit. In the processor above, an area tag signal representing the attribute of an image area is synchronized with a DC coefficient of a pixel block and the result is subjected to entropy coding and they are separated after decoding. Thus, it is not required to add a coding circuit exclusive for identifier and a storage means.</p>
