PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evade the disappearance of a thin line due to reduction and to appropriately read characters and recognize patterns by providing up to N×N kinds of mode as to from which position of N×N image data blocks one image data is sampled, and repeatedly specifying plural modes among them. SOLUTION: An LCD controller 104 scans image data, frame by frame, and displays them on a display medium. When image data in an image memory 101 are reduced to 1/N, an address generator 102 outputs an address to the image memory 101 so as to sample one image data out of N×N image data blocks corresponding to a specified mode. A sampling mode generator 103 has up to N×N kinds of mode as to from which position of the N×N image data blocks one image data is sampled, and repeatedly specifies plural modes out of them in order.
