The bottle packaging insert has at least two flat panels (1,2) of rectangular shape and positioned at right angles. One (2) of the panels can have two sections (2a,b) weakened by a longitudinal fold line (4) following one of the longitudinal edges of the panel. The two parts are folded together to form a double thickness. The notch (5) formed in this panel is formed by notches in corresponding positions in the panel and extending from the fold line. A further fold line (6a) extends in the same plane as the notch. The longitudinal fold line is interrupted at the point of intersection with the transverse fold lines.
