Apparatus for retaining a material breaking device in a mass of material to be broken comprises a slotted nylon bush (22) mounted on a frusto cone (21). The bush (22) defines an internal conical bore which is substantially complementary in shape to the frusto cone (21). The frusto cone (21) is mounted on a bolt (18) which is connected with a degree of freedom of movements to a member (11) which is adapted for connection to the breaking device. In operation a passage in the member (11) conducts gas from the breaking device to the apparatus. This pushes the frusto cone (21) into the internal conical bore in the bush (22) expanding the bush into the wall of the bore in the mass of material in which the device and apparatus are located thus retaining both within the mass of material to improve the breaking effect of the device. |
