The access system, designed for introducing an instrument for performing a medical/surgical procedure such as injecting a medication or taking a sample of blood, consists of an access capsule (2) with an inlet and outlet linked by a passage, a catheter guide (3) with a proximal end connected to the capsule's outlet, and a distal end with a structure which enables it to be connected to the blood vessel (12) by sutures (14). The catheter guide is made from PTFE, while its end fixing structure is of polyester felt, fastened to it with adhesive. The guide can also have a bend in it which has an angle of between about 30 and 60 deg .
