The fastening consists of a band (2) of an elasticated material which is threaded through a sleeve round the edge of the garment's neck (1a). the band has tabs of a soft material, e.g. brushed cotton, on its two ends, which are equipped with temporary fastenings e.g. press studs or self-adhesive material (1a). When the collar band is not in use the tabs are retracted inside the ends (2a) of the neck sleeve. They are pulled out and fastened to give extra warmth and protection against the weather.
