The device has an upper wall (2) with a hatch (3) and a side wall (4) which lies flush against the side walls (11a) of prefabricated blocks (11) which form the edge of the pavement (10). A second side wall (5) is shaped like another type of block used for pavement edges. Each of the two side walls have areas (16,17) which are designed for openings (65,66) to allow water to flow out. The first side wall (4) is the same as the standard T2 pavement edge used in towns. There is a device (32,50) for attaching a subterranean pipe (52) to remove water which flows back into the cavity (7a).
