Zoom lens photographic camera

The camera includes a lens group mounted in a lens barrel and driven by an electric motor (30), pref. mounted in the barrel. A lens barrier, consisting of one or more barrier blades, is mounted on the front end of the lens barrel for opening and closing the aperture at this end. The lens barrel moves between a retracted housing position and an extended photo-ready position. Separate gear trains (42C, 42A) transmit driving force from the motor to the lens barrier and to the lens group respectively. A switching mechanism connects the motor to the lens barrier gear train when the lens barrel is in the housing position, and to the lens group when the barrel is in the photo-ready position. The switching mechanism pref. consists of a sun gear connected to the motor with a planetary gear (93) which is positioned between the motor and either gear train.
