摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the loss of the quantity of light and suppress the darkening of image, and prevent the whole reflection optical system from becoming large in size by arranging a polarization reflecting surface and a 1/λphase surface so that light is made incident again on the polarization reflecting surface and reflected or transmitted. SOLUTION: A polarization reflecting plate 12 is arranged at 45 deg. to a visual field frame. Luminous flux passed through an objective optical system 1 is vertically inverted by a roof mirror 11 and refracted laterally at a right angles to travel to the polarization reflecting plate 12. The light of the P-wave component of luminous flux is transmitted through the polarization reflecting plate 12 and only the S wave component is refracted at a right angles. The light of the S wave component after passing through the 1/λphase plate 14 is reflected by the plane mirror 13 and transmitted through the 1/λphase plate 14 again. Thus, the S wave is converted into the P wave. Therefore, the luminous flux is transmitted through hole polarization reflecting plate 12 this time and travels toward the ocular optical system 2. At this time, an inverted image formed by the objective optical system 1 is vertically and horizontally inverted to become an erect image.
