The machine has a rotor and a stator, with cylinder bores (13) on a block (4) on the rotor. There are piston rollers (10) with convex end faces (23) to axially guide them in their cylinder bores during the complete rotation of the rotor. The radius of any face is smaller than that of its bore. The length of the roller with regard to the crowns of the convex end faces is dimensioned so that there is an axial clearance between the end faces and the cylinder bores.
