PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive scanner of improved operability whose outside dimension is small. SOLUTION: The hand-carry type scanner 20 is provided with a scanner main body 30, an LED 22, a light convergence mirror 24 for irradiating a bar code with read light emitted from the LED 22, a CCD 26 for receiving reflected light reflected from the bar code when the bar code is irradiated with the read light by the light convergence mirror 24 and an optical path 28 for the reflected light where an optical system for guiding the reflected light from the bar code to the CCD 26 are housed and held inside the scanner main body and the optical path 28 for the reflected light is formed between the LED 22 and the light convergence mirror 24. Also, in order to turn the optical axis A of the optical system downwards to the horizontal direction at the time of holding the scanner main body 30, the upper surface of the scanner main body 30 is inclined so as to approach the optical axis A more as going in the direction towards the base end. |
