A photostimulable phosphor represented by the following chemical formula: m(Sr1-a,M<1>a)O.n(Mg1-b,M<2>b)O.2(Si1-c,Gec)O2:Eux,Lny (wherein M<1> represents Ca or Ba; M<2> represents Be, Zn, or Cd; Ln represents Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, B, Al, Ga, In, Tl, Sb, Bi, As, P, Sn, Pb, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Mo, W, Cr, or Mn; and a, b, c, m, n, x and y fall, respectively, within the following range: 0, and 1x10<-5>) and containing halogenous elements such as F, Cl, Br or I in an amount of 1x10<-5>-1x10<-1>g.atm/mol.
