Air-fuel ratio sensor for internal combustion engine for improving pollution control

The sensor has a longitudinally symmetrical cylindrical housing containing a sensor with electrical connection wires. here the wires pass through the outer metal casing they are both electrically isolated and sealed from outside by passing through suitable holes in a shaped rubber seal (2). The seal is a push-fit into the metal housing and is radially deformed inwards when inserted. In a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the housing, there is a minimum thickness of at least one metre between any connecting wire hole and the adjacent wall of the metal casing. The seal is deformed by 10 to 20 % of its outer diameter before insertion. The seal is of fluorine deposited on a rubber base with a hardness in the range 60 to 85 Hs and a high heat resistance.
