PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid delay in defrosting or wasteful defrosting operation by a method wherein after the start of heating operation and every time a prescribed period of time has elapsed the outdoor blower is run at low speed for a certain period of time and, when the outdoor heat-exchanger temperature has fallen to a point to start the defrosting at prior to start of the subsequent low-speed run, the defrosting operation is started. SOLUTION: When during heating the temperature of an outdoor heat- exchanger 5, detected by a temperature sensor 11, has fallen to a preliminarily set defrosting starting temperature, the operation is switched, to defrosting and, when subsequently the temperature rises to a defrosting stopping temperature, the operation is restored to the heating as before. In this instance, after the start of the heating and when a prescribed time has elapsed, the operation of the outdoor blower 6 is switched from high speed to low speed and maintained at the low speed for a fixed period of time; when the temperature of the outdoor heat exchanger 5, detected before the start of the subsequent low-speed operation, has fallen to a defrosting starting temperature, the defrosting operation is started. This method avoids a delay or advance in timing of defrosting operation and contributes to improving comfortableness. |
