The present invention discloses a process to produce a polyacetal copolymer which is extremely stable from the thermal point of view and is extremely reduced in unstable terminals quantity, even in a high polymerization yield, wherein trioxane as main monomer comprises trioxane copolymerization as main monomer with a cyclic ether or a cyclic formol having at least a carbon bond as comonomer, utilizing a specific heteropolyacid or salt thereof as polymerization catalyst, until residual monomers content decreases down to at least 10 percent by weight, based on resulting crude polymer, of a solution containing a catalyst deactivator, or getting in contact a basic gas as deactivator to deactivate catalyst, and to submit crude polymer just as it is to a heat-fusion treatment, without washing it.
