A process for manufacturing a plastic skin uses two or more moulds (a,b) which are supported in a rotatable heating vessel (6). During rotation of the heating vessel (6) a plastic powder is dispersed evenly over the inner surface of one of the moulds, melted and sintered while the temperature of the other mould settles to the correct process temperature. In the following process stages: (a) the mould containing the sintered plastic skin is moved to a cooling station (2) and replaced by a new mould while simultaneously a powder container (5) is connected to the other mould in the heating vessel (6) whose temperature has stabilised at the correct process figure; (b) the heating vessel (6) is rotated to heat the plastic powder in the one mould and also allow the new mould to attain the correct temperature; (c) rotation is stopped and the powder container (5) is disconnected prior to removing excess powder from the mould; (d) rotation recommences and the cycle is repeated with stage (a). In a process variation two or more moulds (a,b) are heated simultaneously in a preheating station (7) and are taken from this station one after the other to the heating vessel (6). Another mould replaces the one just removed. Process equipment includes a rotatable heating vessel (6) holding two or more moulds (a,b) and containing a heat transfer medium which contacts the outer side of the moulds supported in the vessel during rotation of the latter. A control and conveying system transfers moulds (a,b) from the heating vessel (6) to a cooling station (2), replaces a transferred mould with a new one and attaches a powder dispensing container (5) to the other mould. Preferably the moulds (a,b) are heated in a preheating station (7) and after transferring to the heating vessel (6) attain a stabilised correct process temperature. The powder container (5) is only disconnected from a mould(a,b) when the thickness of the plastic skin reaches a desired figure and the polymer is fully melted and sintered.
