PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time required for pattern development and to generate bit map data at high speed. SOLUTION: When a development part 112a receives plotting data in a scaleable font system from an application 111, it outputs corresponding bit map data. At that time, the development part 112a checks whether the bit map pattern of a character corresponding to plotting data exists in a registration memory 122 or not. When it exists, the bit map pattern is referred to. When it does not exist, a font scalar is activated and the bit map pattern is newly generated and outputted. Then, it is registered in the registration memory 122. A control part 112b decides whether such registration/reference processing is to be executed or not in accordance with the capacity of the registration memory 122. |
