PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device for attaining interwork capable of automatically setting up a frame rate or a transfer rate corresponding to LAN traffic by providing the device with a monitoring means, a setting means and an informing means. SOLUTION: The device 101 is connected to an ISDN line 109 and a LAN 111 and executes interwork between the line 109 and the LAN 111. A system control part 102 handles information obtained through a line control part 103 and a LAN control part 107 and controls the whole device 101. The control part 103 controls the communication of the ISDN line 109. A monitoring part 104 prepared as a LAN traffic monitoring means monitors the traffic of data flowing into the LAN through the LAN control part 107. A setting part 105 constitutes a frame setting means and judges whether a current LAN traffic detected by the monitoring part 105 exceeds a threshold stored in a storage part 108 or not.
