摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably improve the storage characteristic while maintaining a high storage capacity by specifying an alloy contained in a hydrogen storage alloy. SOLUTION: Alloys expressed by formulas I, II are contained to reform the conventional Mg alloy. M1 in the formula I is an element having the electronegativity larger than that of Mg, and the hydrogen in a lattice is unstabilized and the storage characteristic can be improved when Mg is substituted by M1. M2 is an element, e.g. Ni, other than Mg and M1 and having the electronegativity larger than that of Mg, and it facilitates the discharge of storage hydrogen. When (x) and (y) are set to the following ranges, the storage force is remarkably increased: 0<x<0.5, 0<=y<18. M3 in the formula II is an element having the atomic radius ratio of 1-1.5 against Mg, and it improves the storage characteristic via the improvement of the catalytic activity. M4 is an element having the atomic radius ratio lower than 1 against Mg. The ranges of (x) and (y) must be set to the following ranges: 0<x<0.5, 0<=y<18.
