PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a route guidance method, in units of categories, in which a destination is serached in units of categories so as to guide a route up to the destination in a navigation apparatus carried on a vehicle, in which, even when the destination is reached to be unable to achieve an intrinsic purpose, another destination in the same category is searched automatically so as to guide the route up to the destination. SOLUTION: When a category such as a convenience store, a parking lot or the like is set, the convenience store, the parking lot or the like which is situated within a definite range from an own vehicle is searched, a road which is congested or whose traffic is regulated is excluded on the basis of road traffic information by an ATIS(advanced traffic information system) or the like, and a guidance route up to a nearest destination is searched. Then, after the own vehicle has been brought close within a definite range from the destination, the own vehicle is not stopped for a definite time or higher, another destination in the same category is serached again when the own vehicle is separated from the definite range, and a route is guided. |
