A colored porous polytetrafluoroethylene article having a porousness inherent in a porous article and being free from the distorsion of colored lines, which is produced by infiltrating a colored substance into a porous polytetrafluoroethylene article having a fine fibrous texture composed of fibers and knots linked to each other via the fibers, and heating the resultant article above its melting point.
