Rotation monitoring device for stepper-motor positioning of tools and workpieces

The device (DV) monitors a stepper motor with an angle output disk arranged on the motor shaft of the stepper motor. An angle generator is connected to the rotation monitoring device (DV). A control unit is connected to an end stage connected in front of the stepper motor and to the rotation monitoring device. The rotation monitoring device (DV) is connected to an adjustment device (E) in which desired values such as step width, resolution, error tolerance etc. are stored, and is also connected to a load angle display (AZ). The rotation monitoring device (DV) is programmable. The method of monitoring rotation involves loading the stored desired values into the monitoring device (DV) during an initialisation phase. During a switch on time only the generator signal is registered in the device (DV) and is added up as the contents of a counter. The counter contents are compared with a threshold value. An error signal is generated when the threshold value is exceeded.
