PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for selecting a server which can deal with various server selection requests from individual clients. SOLUTION: An inquiry message 2 storing a selection policy being a rule for selecting servers 21-24 among the plural servers 21-24 supplying service and a directory server 3 to which the inquiry message 2 is designated from the client 1 are provided. The directory server 3 is provided with a server information table 4 storing the attributes of the respective servers 21-24 on the plural servers 21-24, and with a server selection means 6 evaluating the plural servers 21-24 based on the selection policy stored in the inquiry message 2 and the attributes stored in the server information table 4, selecting the servers 21-24 matched with the selecting policy from the server information table 4 and informing the client 1 of the selected servers 21-24. |
