PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the staining of a transfer paper with toner by allowing a transfer device to contact with the surface of a photoreceptor with a recording medium, at the time of executing a transfer operation and separating the transfer device from the surface of the photoreceptor in a period except the transfer operation. SOLUTION: When a toner image formed on the photoreceptor 1 is transferred to a transfer paper 16, a transfer roller 7 comes into contact with the photoreceptor 1 with the transfer paper 16. On the other hand, the transfer roller 7 is separated from the photoreceptor 1, at the same time when the rear end of an image forming region passes through the transfer roller 7. When the top end of the next image forming region reaches a part, facing the transfer roller 7, it comes into contact with the photoreceptor 1 with the next transfer paper 16 and the toner image on the photoreceptor 1 is transferred onto the transfer paper 16. Since the transfer roller 7 is separated from the surface of the photoreceptor 1 like this, even if the toner is transferred/stuck from a developing roller 5 to the part, of the surface of the photoreceptor in the rear from the rear end of the image forming region, the toner is never stuck to the transfer roller 7. |
