摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately execute image forming processing regardless of difference between machines or environment by previously obtaining information for controlling beam quantity by measurement on a real machine and forming an image based on the information. SOLUTION: A laser beam printer is provided with an intensity modulation exposure means 200 adjusting the beam quantity at the time of turning on a semiconductor laser based on a light quantity signal transmitted from an adjusting means 204. The adjusting means 204 is connected to an average density measuring means 202, and the average density measured by a measuring instrument is inputted in the adjusting means 24 and stored in the memory of the adjusting means 204. When the edge position 206 in subscanning direction is inputted, the adjusting means 204 calculates the beam quantity with which an actual image edge is formed at the inputted image edge position based on the average density on a photoreceptor 208 stored in the memory, and outputs the calculated beam quantity as the light quantity signal to the exposure means 200.
