A cylindrical coupler (30) connected to the bulb stem (25) is provided with a cylindrical cross-hole (33) extending diametrically therethrough and exposing the proximal end of the bulb stem (25) in the longitudinal bore (31). A seating lock nut (40) of generally rectangular configuration, and having a pair of opposite compressible turned out corners (42, 43), is insertable through the cross-hole (33) and is loosely retained at the intersection of the bore (31) and cross-hole (33). The distal tip (51) of the drive shaft (27) is pointed and a threaded segment (53) is positioned behind the distal tip (51). The resilient metal seating lock nut (40) tends to deform at its bent tongues (44, 45) when the shaft theaded segment (53) 'bottoms out' during insertion. This deformation provides a locking function, causing the motor shaft (27) to pull on the tongues (44, 45) of the lock nut (40), resulting in the elimination of any clearance between the two threaded members (27, 40) and thereby creating a compressive pre-stress on the overall joint.
|
