A planetary gear extruder comprises a central spindle and planetary spindles rotating around and meshing with the internal teeth of a housing (32) or bush (31). The planetary spindles rotate against a ring (35) at the extruder outlet end, the ring being held in position by a cap (33) and/or acting as the extruder die.
