PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable calculation of the number of tracks in a track jump device by simplifying the calculation of the number of the tracks to be traversed in the direction of the radius. SOLUTION: A reciprocal of a circumferential length of each track (1/2πr) is stored beforehand as a table data with respect to each track length (an) from the record start position at the innermost circumference of a disk to each track. And, when a track jump is executed, a system controller 6 commands a processor 9 to execute A-time information of a target track, the processor 9, which receives it, calculates a track length N=(a2-a1)V between the present and target tracks from a line velocity V and A-time information (a1) and (a2) of the present and target tracks. Next, the number of the tracks T to be traversed in the radius direction is calculated as (a2-a1)VL by reading out the table data L corresponding to the track length (a1+a2)V/2 from the record start position to the intermediate position between the present track and the target track.
