When passenger cars are to be scrapped, the windowpanes (a) have to be removed. The simplest way of removing the windowpanes (a) is to break them, for which purpose a covering (18) which is resistant to cutting is placed over the windowpane (a) and a glass-collection container (10) is disposed opposite the covering in the region of the top of the door panel (b). The covering (18) which is resistant to cutting has at least one opening (19) through which the windowpane (a) can be struck with a hammer or the like. The resultant splinters of glass fall into the glass-collection container (10).
