<p>A quick change coupling for flexible cable (24) includes a rotary driving assembly that has a source of rotary power (20). Driving adaptor section (30) is coupled to and rotated by this source, driven adaptor section (60) nests with driving adaptor section (30). Cable (24) includes shield (52) and core (50) connected to a tool. Core (50) is engaged with driven adaptor section (60) and is rotated by the same. A shield adaptor section (80) engages shield (52) and is displaceable by the same to engage driven adaptor section (60) to urge the latter to penetrate into the driving adaptor section (30). Cam sections (92, 94, 116) fix a nesting relationship between driven adaptor section (60) and driving adaptor section (30). Handle (114) controls disengagement between shield adaptor section (80) and driven adaptor section (60). No friction is developed between shield adaptor (80) and driven adaptor sections (60).</p> |
