Internal spacing bar of gas-filled insulated multi-panel glazing

Insulated glazing has a number of panels (1)with a gas filling (2) between them and includes an internal spacing bar having a profiled plastic body (9) and a barrier layer (3) applied by vacuum deposition on the profiled body surface. Preferably the barrier layer is of a metal, particularly aluminium, or a polymer, vapour deposited from a plasma, or a vapour deposited metal oxide, particularly SiOx, or several layers of different materials. The material can be compacted and/or hardened by further treatment after deposition.
