Image transfer controller for copier or printer

The image prodn. appts. has an image carrier, a developing system (422), which delivers toner to a latent image, which is formed on an image carrier, in order to develop the latent image in a visible toner image. An intermediate transmission belt (426) is provided to transmit the toner image on it from the image carrier. A charging unit (418) charges the belt (426) simultaneously before the toner image is transmitted on it by the image carrier and/or afterwards the toner image is transmitted by the belt on a transmission sheet. A control unit controls the slowing down of a circumferential speed of the intermediate transmission belt, to a speed, which is slower, than any speed with the transmission of the toner image from the imager carrier to the intermediate transmission belt, if the belt is charged by the charging unit.
