Release agent (L) is conveyed by an applicator (V) to the surface of a fixing roller (F). The release agent (L) is fed to the applicator (V) through contact with a wick. The applicator (V) is a rolled web conveyed from a supply roller (VV) to a take-up roller (AV). The take-up roller (AV) is driven by a motor (MO) controlled by a control unit (CON). A sensor (H) detects the rotation speed of the supply roller (VV) and provides the control unit (CON) with corresponding information. The control unit (CON) assesses this information in such a way that the applicator (V) runs at a constant speed.
