DISK MEMORY DEVICE AND ITS DISK CARTRIDGE

A disk memory device having a rotary actuator which is excellent mechanically, and a disk cartridge having a slide shutter for preventing dust from entering the cartridge. This disk memory device comprises a disk cartridge for storing a disk-like memory medium, a main body to which the disk cartridge is removably fitted, a head positioning mechanism for positioning the head of the disk cartridge, a shutter opening/closing mechanism for opening/closing the shutter capable of opening/closing a loading opening, and a rotary head positioning mechanism in which a head section for recording and/or reproducing information is loaded through the head positioning mechanism loading opening. The disk cartridge has a slide shutter for opening/closing the head positioning mechanism loading opening, and the rotary head positioning mechanism has a rotary actuator by which the head portion is loaded through the head positioning mechanism loading opening. The disk memory device has a high reliability of recording and/or reproduction. Using this disk cartridge, a thin disk memory device is realized.
