PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the influence of thickness, and to finely detect partial dirt and dirt at a bent part by detecting the thickness of paper sheets, and correcting the dirt data, which is detected by a detecting means, according to the thickness data. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a main control unit 10 for controlling the whole of the device, a converted value memory unit 12 for storing a converted value table, a transmission sensor 3 as a detecting means, and a thickness sensor 5. The transmission sensor 3 transmits plural divided areas of a paper sheet to be carried so as to detect the dirt data. The main control unit 10 extracts the data of the most dirty area. The thickness sensor 5 detects the thickness of the paper sheets in the plural divided areas of the paper sheet. The main control unit 10 computes the mean data of the thickness, and selects the dirt data converted value of the converted value memory unit 12, which is previously set, on the basis of the computed mean data, and the dirt data is corrected so as to judge the degree of dirt of the paper sheets. |
