PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a route guidance system by which a user is informed in advance of a traffic lane to be run in order to reach a destination even in a branch place whose road branch shape in an actual place is different from the road branch of a map displayed on the screen of a display device such as the junction of an expressway or the branch of an exit ramp in a navigation system carried on a vehicle. SOLUTION: A destination is set at, and input to, an input device 4, and an optimum-route computing device 5 computes an optimum route on the basis of map data to be output from an external storage device 2, on the basis of the present position of a vehicle computed by a vehicle-position computing device 3 from the output of a positioning sensor 1 and that of the external storage device 2 and on the basis of the destination which is set at, and input to, the input device 4. Then, an image wherein an image in which an arrow and a map are overlapped and a guidance display along an optimum route are composed is displayed on the screen of the display device, and the scene of a road at the front of the vehicle which is matched to a change in the present position of the vehicle is displayed in a real manner in a pat of the screen. In addition, the scene of the road in which an arrow indicating a traffic lane is to be run is overlapped is displayed. |
