PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient high-versatility rigid body/nonrigid body discriminator by providing a means for discriminating the rigid body/non-rigid body property of an object by comparing the rigid degree of the object, which is calculated while using the component of a covariant matrix, with a threshold value. SOLUTION: An object tracking part 7 successively searches the images of an object and tracks the positions of plural feature points on the object. Then, three frames having the sufficiently big displacement of object positions between the respective images are selected and the vectors of correspondent feature points are outputted to the rigid body/non-rigid body discriminator 1. These vectors are stored in feature vector memories 21-23. A synthetic feature vector generating part 3 synthesizes the respective feature vectors 21-23 and transforms the result into six-dimensional vector, a covariant matrix calculation unit 4 calculates the covariant matrix of this six-dimensional vector and further, a rigid degree calculation unit 5 calculates the rigid degree while using the matrix expression of covariant matrix, etc. Then, the calculated rigid degree is compared with the threshold value held in a threshold value register, and discriminated by a discriminating means 6. |
