PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the operation of registering a salve set in a master set by using a storage medium capable of inserting to, recording in and reading out of both the master and slave sets in common. SOLUTION: In the cordless telephone system consisting of a master set and plural slave sets, the master set is provided with a RAM 37 for storing identification (ID) codes for identifying respective slave sets and a slot 15 capable of inserting a memory card which can be inserted into a slave set. When a memory card 25 is inserted into the slot 15 in the master set, a detection part 36 detects the insertion and a control part 31 judges whether the ID code stored in the memory card 25 is stored also in the RAM 37 or not. At the time of judging NO, the ID code stored in the memory card 25 is stored in the RAM 37 and a slave set is newly registered. Consequently the registration of a slave set in the master set can be simplified and a message addressed only to the registered slave set can easily be received.
