PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a communication channel by informing idle channel information obtained by a slave set through idle channel retrieval to a master set. SOLUTION: On the occurrence of a connection request such as dialing or incoming call to a slave set 2, a microprocessor 24 retrieves an idle channel and adds a channel number and a slot designation number to a link channel setup request signal and sends the resulting signal to a master set 1 from a radio section 21. The master set 1 uses a reception level measurement circuit 13 to measure a reception level based on information of the link channel setup request signal received from the slave set 2, the microprocessor 14 selects a communication channel designated by the channel number to use a slot changeover section 12 to select the communication channel and sends the link channel assignment signal to the slave set 2. The slave set 2 receives the link channel assignment signal and uses a slot changeover section 22 to select the communication channel. Thus the communication between the master set 1 and the slave set 2 is started.
