Aldehydes as accelerators for hydrosilation

A hydrosilation process comprises contacting, in the presence of a platinum catalyst comprising a Pt cpd. or Pt complex and an aldehyde accelerator: (A) a silicon hydride of formula R1aHbSiX4-a-b (I) in which: R1 = 1-20 C alkyl, 4-12 C cycloalkyl or aryl; X = halo or OR1; a = 0-3; b = 1-3 and a+b = 1-4; and (B) an unsatd. reactant selected from: (i) opt. substd. organic cpds. contg. non-aromatic, unsatd. carbon-carbon bonds; and/or (ii) Si cpds. comprising opt. substd. organic substituents contg. non-aromatic, unsatd. C-C bonds.
