A transfer apparatus for patients or the like comprises a base member (1), an upright arm (15) and seat means (17). The base member (1) is provided with a plurality of wheels (3, 5, 7) and the upright arm (15) is arranged at one side of the base member, the upright arm being extendible and retractable. The seat means (17) is mounted at the upper end of the upright arm (15) and extends above the base member (1). The seat means incorporates a seat, a backrest (21, 25) and leg support means (19). The backrest (21, 25) is adjustable between an upwardly extending generally upright position and a generally horizontal position and the leg support means (19) is adjustable between a downwardly extending generally upright position and a generally horizontal position. |
