PURPOSE:To obtain an electroconductive high molecular material having high workability, light weight, high electroconductivity even if it is not subjected to doping, high heat resistance and high resistance to acid and chemicals by heat-treating chitin and/or chitosan in nonoxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Chitin having a molecular structure expressed by the formula I and/or chitosan having a molecular structure expressed by the formula 11 is(are)molded to a desired shape. The molded body is heat-treated in vacuum or in inert gas atmosphere such as Ar, N2, etc., namely in nonoxidizing atmosphere. Preferred heat-treating temp. is 1000-3000 deg.C. The temp. elevating rate for the keat-treatment can be generally a relatively large rate until it attains ca.300 deg.C. But it is preferable that the rate is so low as <=10 deg.C/sec. from ca.300 deg.C to a final heat-treating temp. Obtd. electroconductive material is stable to acid and alkali, and to an electrochemical redox reaction. It is also stable to all org. solvents and insoluble in the solvents. |
